About

Gilling East Village Hall was originally the village school in Gilling.  The school was built in 1897 and closed in 1981.  In the late 1980’s and 1990’s the building was unused and fell into a state of disrepair.  There were legal issues around the ownership of the building and site which were eventually resolved.  The Church of England is now the owner and has leased the building to the Gilling Village Hall Management Committee for community use.  Located within the grounds of the village hall is the miniature model railway track run by the Ryedale Society of Model Engineers.

A programme of refurbishment works started in 2008 and have resulted in the fantastic building we have now.  The building is heated by ground source underfloor heating.  All the windows have been replaced with double glazed units and work continues to make the building as user friendly as possible. The hall has been refurbished using professionals and a lot of volunteer hours from members of the local community.

The Gilling Village Hall Management Committee is registered as a charity (Charity number 1118724).
