Stargazing Evening – Saturday 11th November 2023

The team at The Howardian Hills, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty will be running an exciting evening of stargazing at Gilling East Village Hall, 7.30pm, Saturday 11 November 2023

Want to find out more about the sky at night? Then this is the perfect event for you. It’s part of a new dark skies project by the Howardian Hills Partnership to protect our precious nocturnal environment. And it is open to anyone who lives in the Howardian Hills, or in nearby bordering areas. Plus it’s free!

There’ll be a colourful beginner’s introduction to stargazing and we will explain why it’s important we keep our skies dark for the sake of people and wildlife. We’ll also have telescopes and binoculars to share views of the heavens given clear conditions. Even if it’s cloudy we will use a planetarium programme to take you on a cosmic journey.

Did you know that light pollution means that over 80% of people in the UK can no long see the Milky Way?
